About Stow Soccer

Stow Soccer Club is a non-profit organization located in Stow, Massachusetts. We offer fun and enriching soccer opportunities for children of all ages! Our main "goals" are sportsmanship and skills development. Sessions are offered in both fall and spring.

Munchkins

Munchkins

Our Munchkins group is for children 4 1/2 to 6 years of age. Children must be at least 4 1/2 to participate. Children should bring a water bottle and wear shin guards to each practice. Cleats are helpful but not required. Transitions AND Munchkins practices will be held at Pompocitticut School on Saturday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to about 11:45 a.m., and the emphasis is on fun! All children registered for the Munchkin program receive a ball and t-shirt during their first season of play.

Transition

Our Transition group is for children 5-7 years of age. Transitions AND Munchkins practices will be held at Pompocitticut School on Saturday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to about 11:45 a.m. Short small-sided scrimmages and ball-handling games introduce position play and teamwork concepts. Important Note: Parent (or other designated adult) supervision is required for all children participating in the Munchkin and Transition programs. Children should bring a water bottle and wear shin guards to each practice. Cleats are helpful but not required. Children who have not played in the Munchkin group receive a ball and t-shirt during their first season of Transition play.

Under-7

Our (U7) group is for children in 1st grade.  Kids at this age are exposed to a few very basic rules of the game.  This level emphasizes fun, games [soccer related and otherwise], exercise, and the chance to be on a “team” with a group of friends each week.  Sessions will be held on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 – 2:00 at Pompo.

Under-8

Our (U8) group is for children in 2nd grade.  Kids this age are starting to learn about the game of soccer and developing their own skills.  Sportsmanship and fair play are emphasized along with team play.  Games for the U8 group are scheduled on Sundays between 12:30 - 3:30.  Home games are at Center or Pompositticut School. Games take place as part of an informal league [no score is kept] with Maynard and Hudson U8 teams and consist of four 12-minute quarters.  Equal playing time and positions for all U8 players.

U8 Conduct Rules and Guidelines for Coaches and Referees

U10

Under-10

Beginning with the (U10) age group, all teams are affiliated with the Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League (NVYSL). U10 games are 6 v 6 and consist of 30 minute halves. All children at the U10 level and higher play on NVYSL traveling teams. Girl's U10 teams play Saturdays at 9:00 AM. Boy's U10 teams play Saturdays at 10:15 AM. Home games for ages U10 and higher (NVYSL games) are played at Bradley Field or Pine Bluff.

Under-12

Players in U-12 play 8 v 8. Boy's U12 games are held on Saturdays at 1:00 PM. Girl's U12 games are held on Saturdays at 11:30 AM.

Under-14

Boy's U-14 games are held at 4:00 PM on Saturdays. Girl's U14 games are held at 2:30 PM on Saturdays. This age group is the first to play 11 v 11 on a full sized field.

Under-16 / Under 18

U16 and U18 teams are combined in the fall and play 8 v 8 in a recreational division.  In the spring each age group plays individually 11 v 11 in competitive and recreational divisions.   These teams play on Sundays.

Nashoba United

Nashoba United

Competitive players in the U12 and higher age groups may also choose to tryout for Nashoba United.

Nashoba United is an extension of the Stow Soccer program, and combines players from Stow, Bolton, and Lancaster. NU is administered jointly by board members from each of the three towns. Nashoba United was created to give competitive players an opportunity to play in MTOC-Division 1.

Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League

Stow Soccer Club and Nashoba United are members of the Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League (NVYSL), and are affiliated with the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).

MAPLE

Other soccer opportunities include MAPLE (Massachusetts Premier League). MAPLE is a private, highly competitive league beginning at the U11 level. Tryouts are held once or twice yearly. MAPLE players may play on town teams concurrently.

Indoor Soccer

In order to allow more Stow kids to get involved, there is a sign-up box on the outdoor registration form where you can indicate that your child is interested in playing indoor soccer.

The club's Indoor Coordinator will facilitate the formation of indoor teams by providing coaches with the names of those children who are interested in playing indoors. The coaches are then responsible for registering the teams with the indoor facility. Stow Soccer does not manage the money or formally register and place the players onto teams.

During the summer, many Stow children choose to attend our summer camp. Information will be posted on the site in the spring.

Scholarship

Scholarship assistance is available for families in need; all requests are kept strictly confidential. For more information, please contact the registrar.
